PIP

What is pip and why should I use it? PIP is personal injury protection which you may have on your auto policy. In Texas it is automatically included unless you reject it in writing. It provides reimbursement for medical charges and lost wages which you suffer as a result of a car wreck -- regardless of fault--up to the limits of your policy. The policy is generally $2,500.00, but I have seen them for $5k, $10k and in one case even $100k. Why should I use my pip if the other person was at fault and their insurance should pay? The first reason is you are paying for that protection and the only time you will need it is when you are injured in a wreck. If you are never going to use it stop paying for it. The second reason is it generally reimburses you faster than the other drivers policy will and allows you to get the medical care you need. PIP generally does not have a subrogation provision -- meaning you do not have to pay the money back when you get a recovery from the other driver's insurance. (Med-pay is similar to pip, but generally does require repayment, so when purchasing insurance go with pip if possible.) If you have any questions about pip or other issues involving your car wreck in Texas, let me know and I will try and answer them.

We are based in Sugar Land -- Fort Bend County, Texas, but handle cases across Texas, including Brazoria, Harris and Wharton Counties.
